What is Pasture?

The interior trend for the year 2024, pasture, embraces the feel of being out in the future with the sense of holding into the past, bringing a feel of futuristic with a nostalgic touch. With the expansion of technology, artificial intelligence, augmented reality and the online network. The main elements of the trend will be inspired by technology and space empowering the future. Also, the trend refers back to history to express the past elements.

This trend aims to satisfy Gen Z's taste and feel. As one of the most common characteristics in a Gen Z personality is being modern and up-to-date with technology. However, they show high emotions toward the past (Success Insight, 2019). Moreover, according to studies, it shows that most of the generation is highly reliant on technology. However, they are still independent and self-guided (ibid). For that, the pasture trend will reveal futuristic and historic elements. It will help the designers express themselves in their future visuals aligning with their past relationships.

The shades and colours of the trend will feature navy blue as the main colour as in terms of nature it presents space and in terms of personality it represents knowledge, authority, and reliability (Designs AI, 2023) which reflects Gen Z’s characteristics (Success Insight, 2019). In addition, the materials used will be inspired by technology giving a sense of motion and speed. The mixing of materials such as Aluminum Cladding Panels (ACP) in a metallic finish with an unfinished raw material will be popular.

This trend seeks to balance out the complexity of the high-speed future movement and the complexity of the slow past detailed features.

The colours selected for the trend are between the shades of neutrals and the shades of blue, featuring the raw materials of historical architecture and the nature of space and technology which is always presented with blue shades.

The mixture of moods, materials, colours, and eras creates the trend of PASTURE.
